2. TSA Sterile Area Access & Security Search Consent

To participate in certain camp activities, participants must enter the "sterile area" (the secure passenger terminal and ramp areas) of the Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport. Access to this area is governed by federal law and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.

  • Consent to Screening: As the parent or legal guardian of the minor participant named above, I hereby grant permission for my child to enter the sterile areas of the airport under the supervision of Pilotsmith staff and/or Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport employees.
  • Authorization of Search: I explicitly consent to my child, as well as their personal belongings, being subjected to security screening, inspection, physical searching, and vetting by the TSA, airport security personnel, or law enforcement in accordance with 49 C.F.R. Parts 1540 and 1542 and other applicable federal regulations. I understand that refusal to submit to these security procedures will result in the immediate denial of entry to the secure areas and cancellation of associated camp activities.

3. Media Presentation & Photo/Video Release Certificate

Pilotsmith and its partners (including Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport / Brown County) regularly document camp activities for educational, promotional, and community outreach purposes.

  • Grant of Rights: In accordance with Wisconsin law regarding rights of publicity (Wis. Stat. § 995.50), I hereby grant Pilotsmith, its legal representatives, and its partners the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to take, use, reuse, publish, and republish photographic portraits, pictures, digital images, or videotapes of my child, with or without their name, for advertising, promotion, exhibition, or any other lawful purpose.
  • Waiver of Compensation: I understand and agree that these materials may be used in print publications, online platforms, and social media without geographic restriction. I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or any right to financial compensation now or in the future.

4. Camp Guidelines: TSA "Do Not Bring" List

Because participants will be passing through official TSA security checkpoints to access the ramp and terminal, they are subject to standard federal aviation security rules. Please inspect your child's bags before they leave for camp.

Any of the following items found at the checkpoint will be confiscated by the TSA and could cause your child to be delayed, denied entry to the camp, or subject to law enforcement action:

  • Firearms, Weapons, & Ammunition: Actual firearms, ammunition, parts of firearms, realistic replicas, BB guns, pellet guns, or any device capable of expelling a projectile. Note: Possession of a firearm at a TSA security checkpoint can result in local arrest and severe federal civil penalties.
  • Sharp Objects: Pocket knives (of any size), multi-tools (like Leathermans), box cutters, scissors with blades longer than 4 inches, or razor blades.
  • Liquids & Gels: Any water bottles, drinks, sunscreens, or hand sanitizers that are larger than 3.4 oz (100ml).
  • Note on Drinks: Personal drinks, sports drinks, or large water bottles cannot pass through the TSA checkpoint. However, students will be able to leave their drinks safely in a designated conference room outside the sterile area to access during non-sterile camp hours. Empty reusable water bottles are permitted through security and can be filled at airport water fountains.
  • Sporting Equipment: Baseball bats, golf clubs, or martial arts items.
  • Tools: Hammers, wrenches, pliers, or screwdrivers longer than 7 inches.
  • Self-Defense Items: Pepper spray, mace, or kubotans.
  • Replica Weapons: Toy guns, squirt guns, Nerf blasters, or anything that resembles a firearm or explosive.
  • Flammables: Matches, lighters, aerosol cans, or fireworks.
